42 Million in Client Sales: What Techstars Taught Us
Reflecting on Techstars Demo Day and $42M in client sales generated through the Hanzo platform.
By Demo Day at Techstars Kansas City, our 23 beta customers had generated $42 million in sales through the Hanzo platform. That number is real. No asterisks, no projected revenue, no GMV inflation.
What We Learned
Distribution Is Infrastructure
The most important lesson from Techstars was not about fundraising or pitch decks. It was about distribution. You can build the best commerce AI on the planet, but if your infrastructure cannot handle the load when a customer's campaign goes viral at 2 AM, none of it matters.
Three of our beta customers had launch events during the program that 10x'd their normal traffic within minutes. Our systems handled all three without intervention. That is the product.
Customers Do Not Want AI — They Want Results
Nobody came to us asking for "AI-powered commerce." They came asking: why are my ads not converting? Why is my cart abandonment rate 73%? Why am I spending $50 to acquire a customer worth $30?
The AI is the mechanism. The result is what they pay for. This distinction shaped every product decision we have made since.
The Cohort Effect
Techstars cohorts are small enough that you know everyone's problems. We watched other companies struggle with problems we had already solved — and they watched us struggle with distribution challenges they had cracked. The cross-pollination was genuine.
By the Numbers
- 23 beta customers during the program
- $42M in client sales generated
- 99.97% platform uptime during the program
- 3 viral launch events handled without incident
- 0 customers lost to churn
What Comes Next
Techstars gave us conviction that the platform works at scale. Now we are scaling the team and the customer base. The technology is proven. The market is waiting.
We are hiring across engineering, sales, and customer success. If you want to work on commerce infrastructure that actually matters, reach out.
